Delaware's Top 5 Music Record Stores

by Zachary Foust

In a world where streaming music has taken over, these record shops make you feel like you're back in the good old days.

Most music fans today use streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music to listen to their favorite songs. Still, there are some good things about listening to your favorite music on vinyl.

Even though our culture loves nostalgia, vinyl albums aren't going away anytime soon. Playlists on Spotify are great, but there's something special about going through record bins and talking to shop employees to find new music.

There are a lot of great record stores in Delaware for people who love music and like to listen to records. These Delaware stores keep history alive by selling everything from oldies to new metal and pop music.

The Newark newbie is all about music from all over the world. Its goal is to be a friendly place where people can share music and find new artists.

With a buy-sell-trade business model, the stock is constantly changing, so you're likely to find something new every time you come in.

2. Wonderland Records, Newark

This record store at the end of Newark's main street has been a mainstay of the neighborhood since 1972. The oldest record store in Delaware has a lot of titles, which are arranged alphabetically and not by genre.

At first glance, the area looks a little crazy because it has more than 12,500 books, a full-service recording studio, and a smoking shop.

The decor includes pieces made by local artists and vinyl records that the owner turned into hanging decorations. Even the tiles on the floor are made of vinyl LPs.

They said they don't want these pieces of vinyl to end up in a landfill, where they would be kept for thousands of years. About two of these broken albums hanging from the ceiling are sold weekly.

3. Goodboy Vinyl, Wilmington

There is a lot of music here from various genres and time periods. No matter what you're looking for, you're sure to find something you like on these shelves.
