James Farm Ecological Preserve

After a successful pilot program, the James Farm Ecological Preserve in Delaware became dog-friendly in 2019. The preserve recognized the importance of allowing dogs to join their owners in outdoor activities and made it permanent after receiving positive feedback from the community. Dogs are now welcome on the preserve's trails. They can enjoy various activities, including hiking, birdwatching, and exploring the wetlands. The preserve also offers dog-friendly events throughout the year, such as the "Doggie Dash," a 5K fun run/walk that owners can participate in with their furry friends.

 

Viking Golf

Viking Golf is in Fenwick Island, Delaware. The owners of Viking Golf recognized the need for dog owners to be able to spend quality time with their furry friends. They decided to open up their mini-golf course to dogs. Dogs are now welcome to join their owners for a round of mini-golf and can even play for free! The course also has doggy water stations so pups can stay hydrated on a hot day. Viking Golf also hosts an annual "Dog Days of Summer" event, including a costume contest and other dog-friendly activities.

 

Killens Pond State Park

Killens Pond State Park in Delaware has always been popular with outdoor enthusiasts. Still, it wasn't until 2016 that the park officially became dog-friendly. The park changed to accommodate the furry babies of the owners who visit the place for fun outdoor activities and events. Dogs are now welcome on the park's trails and can even dip in the pond in designated areas. The park also offers a dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs to play off-leash. Also, the park hosts several dog-friendly events throughout the year, including the "Bark in the Park" event, which features a dog parade and costume contest.

 

Lums Pond State Park

Lums Pond State Park in Delaware became a dog-friendly place with the opening of its dedicated dog park in 2007. The park recognized the need for a safe and fun place for dogs to play and socialize off-leash and thus created Lums Pond Dog Park. The park is divided into two separate areas for large and small dogs. It features agility equipment for dogs to play on. The park also includes water stations, benches, and waste bags for owners to clean up after their pups. Moreover, the park offers various events throughout the year, including the annual "Paws in the Park" event, which features vendors, food trucks, and doggy games and contests.

 

Wilmington Brew Works

Wilmington Brew Works in Delaware became a dog-friendly place in 2018. The brewery owners recognized the need for a space where dog owners could enjoy a cold beer with their furry friends. Dogs are now welcome to join their owners in the brewery's outdoor seating area to enjoy the fresh air and socialize with other dogs. The brewery also offers a "Pints & Paws" event, where owners and dogs can enjoy live music, food trucks, and dog-friendly vendors. More than that, the brewery partners with local animal rescues to host adoption events, allowing visitors to meet and adopt their new furry friend while enjoying a delicious craft beer.
