The Best Delaware Food Trucks and Carts You Need to Try

by Zachary Foust

Are you looking for something tasty you can take instead of fast food?

During the pandemic, people in Delaware wanted to eat more food from food trucks and food carts than before. The mobile restaurants drove around the neighborhoods and stopped on busy streets to give people easy, high-quality options for takeout.

Delaware has a lot of delicious food trucks and carts that you must try. Some of them are newcomers who moved into the area not too long ago.

Look at these eight places around the First State that serve the best food on wheels.

1. WiLDWiCH burgers

Mike Stanley opened the first version of WiLDWiCH in 2014. It was a traditional store with bricks and mortar.

After COVID-19 hit him and destroyed his car, he decided to close the café, borrow a truck, and start a business selling burgers to go. Later, he bought the old food truck that I Don't Give a Fork used to own but no longer used.

You might see him park it often at 2308 Concord Pike in Wilmington. Here, everything is made from scratch, even the mayonnaise.

2. Joey T.'s Sausage and More

If you are in the Newport area early in the morning, you shouldn't be surprised to see a line at the Fletcher Plumbing parking lot. It means that Joey Thuet is cooking breakfast foods on the griddle, like bacon, sausage, and eggs.

Bring cash and a sticker to add to the food truck's collection. However, there is no way for them to accept credit cards yet.

3. Bivouac Pizza

Bivouac is a mobile cart with a wood-burning pizza oven that goes from brewery to brewery and community to community, serving Neapolitan-style pizza that tastes like it was made over a campfire. S'mores are made of graham crackers spread with Nutella, topped with toasted marshmallows, and drizzled with peanut butter.

There are also classic Margherita pies made with vegan ingredients and vegan versions of classic Margherita pies. Yum!

4. Gastro Graffiti

During COVID-19, 33 West in Dover had to close, so the owner, Brandon Pelton, decided to take his show on the road. There are fried Brussels sprouts, cheesesteak eggrolls, and beef and potato empanadas with a golden cheese crust on the menu.

On top of that, you can get fish tacos, burgers with scrapple, and Nashville hot chicken sandwiches.

5. Tacos Mexigo

Some of the best and most authentic Latin food in the state comes from this food truck, which is often parked at 307 Ridge Road in Claymont. Fish, shrimp, and birria tacos, which are only available on Tuesdays and Fridays, sell like hotcakes.

Fresh watermelon and drinks made with passion fruit and pineapple also go fast. Grub Hub customers can choose to have their food delivered or place their orders ahead of time.

Final Thoughts

The food trucks and carts in Delaware have something for everyone, from savory seafood to sweet treats. Try these top-rated food trucks on your next trip to the First State, so you don't miss out on the deliciousness!
